Michael Morpurgo is one of my favorite authors, and this book is, in my opinion, one of his best. Incredibly, "Private Peaceful" is Michael Morpurgo's 100th book. "Private Peaceful"is a short and easy read but, boy, the story will stay with you for a long, long time. It takes place during WWI when many young men were eager to take part in the war.
Private Peaceful tells the story of two devoted brothers who struggle through a harsh childhood and adolescence in rural Devon, England, before enlisting in the military for the First World War.
